Welcome to VerticalDubai.com!

This website was created to provide you with images of Dubai showing the city's vibrant pace of development. Dubai is said to be the largest construction site on earth and even in these days of global recession it is not easy to keep up with the progress of the numerous on-going projects.

Ever since I moved here I was amazed by the vision of Dubai and especially by the high-rise developments which are being built in several clusters such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Business Bay and Downtown Burj Dubai. These clusters stretch along the coast of the Emirate for some 60 kilometres. I have structured this website to go by the development clusters, but then again it does not make sense to break down the categories to single projects. Many of the pictures I take are panoramas and long shots of the different skylines. Therefore, most of my pictures show different developments in one image and sometimes it would be a difficult decision in which category a particular photograph should be placed.

Trying to avoid duplicating my photographs for different parts of the city I bundled them geographically where it made sense. This is why you will basically find a differentiation between "New Dubai" (the southern part including Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers) and "Old Dubai" (the northern part including Business Bay and Downtown Burj Dubai). As there is actually nothing old to "Old Dubai" I have also set up a separate category for the "Dubai Creek" which is the historical nucleus of the city. Furthermore, you will find a section for pictures I took "out of town".

If you want to find out more about the projects with regards to their architectural backgrounds and their engineering aspects I strongly recommend checking out the UAE section in the forum of Skyscrapercity.com. But for now just sit back and enjoy some images of Dubai. Let yourself get carried away to a place which is unparalleled in the world.
